The term for how hard or soft an item is “durometer.” It is a special,plstic that has many uses; on the other hand, "polyurethane". Thus, say we have durometer polyurethane = this: all that really means is how hard or soft the particular type of plastic in question is.
The hardness of the polyurethane is measured with a durometer tester. A small metal tip in the tester. We use this tip to get the hardness of polyurethane; we press it onto plastic surface for checking how soft that is. The tester provides us a number which indicates how tough or soft the plastic is once pressed. This number is very critical as it tells us whether or not the material will be strong enough in its intended application.

Polymers: In reality, almost all polymers are well below dense materials than we have already seen, so that many of them may require higher temperatures for fully melting and proper shaping in most common ways. And yet the payoff is that it has the ability to construct a very rugged and durable paid of footwear that will be able to take on even conditions as rough.
If that was the main requirement, then a softer durometer would likely be easier to work with and use in manufacturing. It typically takes lower temperatures, which save you time and energy. Softer durometers are also generally considered to be more comfortable for use in some applications (e.g., skin-contacting product). The only major negative is that with a soft durometer, you simply might not get as much life span out of the material because they may not be strong enough to last in operation longer.
There are some helpful tips to keep in mind when you are measuring the durometer of polyurethane so that your results come accurately. For instance, always have the same durometer tester when you measure. This is so your results are the same across all function executions. And it is always good to validate the tester every now and then so you know that it will work. Furthermore, taking multiple readings and finding the average of it allows your result to be accurate with less error percentage.
